Kevin Draper is a Founder and Creative Director of Satellite Collective

Kevin Draper is an architect and writer working in Manhattan. He is the director of the Satellite Collective, an arts incubator with studios in New York and on Lake Michigan. His inspirations are deconstructivism and extreme sports.


Draper develops projections and visual works in collaboration with choreographers and composers. He has developed his technique to incorporate intense visual compositions with studied movement, ultimately arriving at large scale projections that create virtual architecture.

Kevin is committed to the return of the libretto form. His writing has been used for short film, dance, multimedia and song cycle forms. He engages the space between technology and optimism using short fiction and poetry.

Kevin is currently a Director with SAP AG, advising on capital program planning and management. His clients include major competitors in financial services, retail and manufacturing, including Morgan Stanley, IBM, Nike, Wal-Mart and others. He was previously a Director at Hush Puppies Company, acting as board assistant in development of strategy and acquisitions, and international online businesses.


Kevin holds degrees in Architecture from the University of Michigan and Tulane University, and an MBA from Notre Dame University. He is a member of the Tulane School of Architecture Board.

Draper is also acting President of T. T. Handicraft Development Company, a Tibetan artisan venture located in Shangrila, Tibet (China) initiated by the Tibet Poverty Alleviation Fund, a 501(c)3 based out of Cambridge, Massachusetts.

An alumnus of Tulane School of Architecture, Draper also holds a BS Engineering, University of Michigan, and his MBA from Notre Dame University Executive Program.

 

Projects


Entanglement (Architectural Designer) TBA 2015: Creating a series of emotive architectural sketches of Times Square that will be interpreted by choreographer Manuel Vignoulle. This work will be submitted to the Times Square Alliance in the fall of 2014.


Rituals (3D Animator) BAM Fisher Theater, May 2014: Developed three-dimensional graphic rendering to highlight aspect of movement choreographed by Manuel Vignoulle.


Twin Star Event (Librettist) BAM Fisher Theater, May 2014: Created the literary backbone of this short stop-motion film by Lora Robertson, with original score by Ellis Ludwig-Leone, in which the NASA transcripts of the Columbia space craft disaster are rendered as poetry.
Warehouse Under the Hudson/The Thief (Librettist, Animator) Gerald R. Lynch Theater, 2012: Composed the long form poem upon which this ballet and song-cycle were based. Created animated digital graphics to compliment the stage performances.


Progress/Cosmonaut/Epistasis (Librettist, Animator) Baryshnikov Arts Center, 2011: Composed the long form poem upon which these two ballets and song-cycle were based. Developed both static and animated complimentary visual art for all three works, created with members of the New York City Ballet.
