BODYSONNET
COLLABORATION STARTS LOCAL
BODYSONNET is a collective of contemporary dance makers and performers committed to making site responsive work.
Founded in 2019, BODYSONNET initiates projects in an array of communities that provide locals with unique and inclusive performance experiences in non-traditional spaces. To create highly collaborative work, BODYSONNET employs horizontal working practices and considers every artist in the room equal parts dancer and creator. To this day the collective has produced over twenty original works of art internationally and employed over forty artists.
BODYSONNET PRODUCES DARING WORKS OF ART THAT CENTER COMMUNITY AND COLLABORATION
While the collective’s most fluent language is dance, the work also demonstrates the intersection of many mediums and enacts zero waste consciousness in an entire process. As a traveling dance collective, we locally source all of our materials for process, performance and collaboration. The same applies to necessities required to fuel ourselves throughout our residency. We partner with local businesses to support our dancers throughout our processes. We believe by growing our work locally, we can influence collective and social change through dance. As we travel to communities and work with future collaborators, we strive to create a seat at the table for voices which represent a wider breadth of backgrounds and experiences.
