ROSEBUD CONTEMPORARY
This exhibition is a nuanced deconstruction of what the term “world-building” invokes in artists operating along a spectrum of materials, disciplines, and intentionalities. As such, this exhibition will consider what world-building means in the following open-ended subcategories:
1. The fantastical and the imaginary
2. The real world as substance
3. The body as a metaphor for place
4. The digital realm as place / non-place, this-worldly / otherworldly
Featuring 14 artists working across painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, collage, experimental puppetry, and moving image / video performance.

Bronze Series
Satellite returns to Tribeca with two weekends of premieres and events with new prints, photography, and sculpture from featured artists. Kevin Draper brings his new show With Respect To The Killer In My Heart featuring a mechanized sculpture, building structures, and evidentiary photographs integrated in the crafting of his Brutalist narrative. Lora Robertson’s The American Yes creates a staged allegory, addressing the injustice all around us through a presentation of large format photography printed on aluminum sheets with a dye-sublimation process paired with sand-cast bronze sculpture.
This year, we celebrate the fifth birthday of our Fellows’ program on May 16th. Cohorts from New York and all over the country will gather to celebrate this milestone.
Satellite Collective also partnered with ArtPrize and The Louis & Helen Padnos Foundation to host a pitch night on May 15th. Listen to original music by Stelth Ulvang and Trevor Menear, these songs are a direct response to the work in the gallery.

SATELLITE HOSTS PITCH NIGHT IN TRIBECA
During our 2025 show Satellite Tribeca we will join with ArtPrize to host a competition for a chance to receive a grant to help fund their participation in ArtPrize 2025, September 18 – October 4. “Pitch Night” offers a $10,000 award.

ART, FILM, DANCE, MUSIC, WORD
Kevin Draper’s “The Cartoon Before The Movie” features giant prints on paper and canvas created with aerospace 3D software and innovative hand printing techniques. Beginning with nostalgic imagery of an older New York, its vision looks out toward space, along the avenues of Central Park and the sidewalks of Park Avenue, and sees a future of artificial intelligence and buildings seeking autonomy. Images feature bold industrial colors and a unique, expressionistic use of the architectural drafting language.
“please come alone” is a series of solo dance performances exploring what it means to be alone and to come together. Performers explore their artistic and narrative values as they devise movement solos. From creator-performers Moscelyne ParkeHarrison and Mio Ishikawa of BODYSONNET, the work was originally performed in The Berkshires, MA, and workshopped at Yale University with Dramaturg Hannah Gellman.
Lora Robertson’s show “Agony In The Scrub Pines” features large, complex photographic compositions reproduced on smooth sheet metal. Robertson works with digital cameras produced as part of the Hubble telescope program, and the intense focus on color and light is almost pre-Raphaelite in complexity. With her digital tools Robertson translates the naturalistic settings and historical lighting techniques into photographs that are easily mistaken for paintings until a closer view shows how these have been brought into the present with a wily eye for metaphor and visual easter eggs.
“Sad Blimp Twins” is a pair of forty foot long blimps coming to New York for the first time as Satellite’s official mascots. Sad Blimp Twins are a pair of aerostats designed to be Satellite Collective’s mascots. They first flew on the lawn of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum and will premiere in New York inside the gallery at 101 Reade Street. At full inflation, the blimps are fourteen feet in diameter and nearly forty feet long. Designed by Kevin Draper, they act as reminders of distant technologies of observation. Satellite intends to continue development of Sad Blimp Twins and their use as mobile cinema screens.
RUN A RACEHORSE OR SHE WILL TEAR DOWN THE BARN
Satellite Collective collaborates with composer Ellis Ludwig-Leone, harpist Chelsea Lane, ArtPrize, and The Louis & Helen Padnos Foundation. An original score is composed for filmmaker Lora Robertson’s historic studio space, an old furniture factory boiler house in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Chelsea performed this piece for 3 weeks in fall of 2025 while Lora hosted the site-specific venue, winning Juror’s Best Venue for ArtPrize. Using this time as a workshop to develop the project, Satellite Collective plans to bring this interdisciplinary collaboration to New York in fall of 2026.

Satellite Collective Produces Original Live and Animated Films
Satellite Collective spends so much time generating promotion and doing the standard non-profit myth making that it occurred to us that might in some way mean the promotion was the art. Since we were looking at the East River from the Brooklyn skyline at the time, someone suggested that we use an advertising blimp, and someone else suggested that should be a WWI observation blimp if it were to be funny. Everyone burst into laughter and an idea was born.
SAD BLIMP TV
We think of Sad Blimp as a decade long project, and fully intend for the last blimp to be in space and visible to our first space tourists.
But, while it’s bound to earth, Sad Blimp is by day a watcher, and by night a talker: Sad Blimp TV uses Sad Blimp as a mobile broadcast screen driven by our YouTube channel.
