“Founded in 2019, BODYSONNET is a company based in New York committed to making site responsive work on an international scale. Led by Co-Founders Moscelyne ParkeHarrison (Artistic Director), Mio Ishikawa (Associate Artistic Director), and Sean Lammer (Creative Consultant), BODYSONNET initiates projects that center dance to yield works that are highly physical and unique to the communities with which we engage. Our work demonstrates the intersection of movement with many mediums and enacts zero waste consciousness through collaboration with local artists and institutions. We redefine the viewer’s experience by developing innovative work that reinforces our shared humanity.”
Now in its 7th season, the company has produced over twenty original works of art internationally and employed over forty artists. This season’s programming includes large scale residency productions, community programming with classes and sessions, and small scale collaborations with brands and local artists. BODYSONNET is Artistic Director Moscelyne ParkeHarrison, Associate Artistic Director Mio Ishikawa, and Creative Consultant Sean Lammer and Advisory Committee Evelyn Chen, Bettina Montano, and Robin Dekkers. The company has received significant support from Berkshire Pulse (company in residence 2020-21), Anthony Quinn Foundation Fellowship (inaugural recipient), Adobe, New England Foundation for the Arts, MassCultural Council, Berkshire Taconic Fund, and The Berkshire Food Co-Op. The company has been presented by Bard College at Simon’s Rock, Walnut Hill School for the Arts, Performance Space for the 21st Century, High Line Nine, Little Boxes Theater, Arts on Site, Satellite Collective Rouge Film Unit, Départ Wine, The Mount, Chesterwood, Mount Sequoyah, Crystal Bridges American Museum of Art, Our Treaty/Hudson Hemp, CounterPulse, Center for Performance Research, and The Peace Studio.
