SEEING THE EXTRAORDINARY IN THE ORDINARY
JILLIAN TELLS STORIES ABOUT PEOPLE WHO ARE IMPERFECT AND MESSY AND LEARNING
From the living room directing her family in “Wizard of Oz” reenactments to her career as a network producer at NBC, Jillian knows how to take the lead and lead with heart. In her 13 years of production, Jillian has produced GEMA award-winning scripted and unscripted marketing campaigns, proof of concept pilots and web series, and short films.
In her creative work, Jillian explores the journey of life from birth and motherhood to death and grief and everything in between. She is curious about the way we grow and evolve, stagnate and stay the same. She highlights what makes life worth celebrating and examines how we get it wrong. She looks for the silver lining in the storm clouds and then she writes about it.
Jillian is a RADA trained classical actress, with a BFA in Acting from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Her collection of poetry “The Daily Salute” calls attention to the little details in our day that make the ordinary extraordinary. She is a mother, a daughter, a sister, a neighbor, a friend, and a storyteller. She hopes that her work helps people feel less alone in the world.
"TOO LATE"
EXPLORING GRIEF, GOODBYES, AND BREAKING CYCLES
TOO LATE is a narrative short film about purging what no longer serves us and learning to let go in order to create space for something new.
It is the story of Siobhan, a new mom who is trying to break unhealthy family cycles. A call from her dying father has her returning to his hoarder home (and her past) to say her final goodbyes. It’s a story about peeling back the layers, physically and mentally, that keep us from moving forward.
TOO LATE is a return to Jillian’s multi-hyphenate roots. Jillian wrote the script, is directing the film, and will be acting in the role of Siobhan. She is supported by an amazing troupe of talented and loving people who are helping to bring this story to life.
ON THE HORIZON…
FORGING COMMUNITY THROUGH CREATIVITY
What we define as ordinary life has taken on new meaning in the last few years. Every day we are inundated with new horrors. It is Jillian’s hope that we can create community through our creative efforts and help people feel less alone, more empowered, and emboldened with courage as they move through the world. Jillian is working on new ideas to cross cultural divides through storytelling, filmmaking, and poetry. As her two year old says, “Try?” Yes, for him, for you, for all of us, she will try. Onward. Together.
