Living Room Productions

Women-led NYC theater company

Founded by LAMDA graduates and professional actors, LRP fosters new work, mounts ethically produced productions and nurtures our community by hosting Artist Potlucks.

Founded in 2023 by classically trained professional actors Ellyn Heald, Laura Carswell, and Su Hendrickson, Living Room Productions is at the vanguard of New York City’s indie theater scene. What began in Ellyn’s living room as a simple gathering of artists hungry to create has grown into a company that champions collaboration and bold new work. The tradition continues with monthly “artist potlucks,” where conversation, creativity, and good food spark the projects that define LRP’s season.

HOW WE GOT HERE

Ellyn, Laura, and Su met in 2012 while earning their Master’s degrees in Classical Acting at LAMDA. A decade later, reunited in Ellyn’s living room and still reeling from the global event, they began to imagine a company that could hold space for conversation, artistry, and community. With careers spanning Broadway, regional theater, film, television, and audiobooks, they founded Living Room Productions to make powerful, collaborative theater rooted in connection and courage.

OUR INAUGURAL SEASON

LRP is mounting 4 productions during its inaugural 2025-2026 season, including a US premiere, and a brand new work by founding member, Su Hendrickson.

Our inaugural season includes:

Georgia Mertching is Dead” by Catya McMullen

Gloaming” by Su Thomas Hendrickson (a new parody)

Peep” by Jodi Gray (US premiere)

Twelfth Night” by William Shakespeare

monthly potlucks

Once a month (or so) LRP hosts ‘artist potlucks’ where artists can gather and share selections of their works in progress in a casual, low-stakes environment. If you’re interested in joining us for one of these potlucks, sign up on our website: https://livingroomproductionsnyc.com/
