EXPLORING VIOLENCE IN AMERICA

REECE CREATES FILMS THAT EXAMINE THE VIOLENT UNDERBELLY OF AMERICAN SOCIETY

Whether he was camping in the forests of Upstate New York during the dead of winter or competitively training for cross country under August’s blistering sun, Reece always had his eyes set on one thing.

Filmmaking.

This passion and drive led him to Emerson College where he got his BFA in visual and media arts. Since moving to Los Angeles, he’s assistant directed and script supervised short films, music videos, commercials, documentaries, and feature films. Reece is now the studio manager at Lemonlight, a video production company that specializes in creative for brands and agencies across the globe.

His most recent short, Get Out Of The Car, is a tense drama-thiller all set within a car about an Uber driver and two passengers who refuse to leave his vehicle.

Reece’s films and scripts explore the darker side of American society, class dynamics, trauma, gender politics, and other socio-political issues.

"TEN"

INTERROGATING APATHY

Ten is a narrative short film that serves as a mediation on gun violence and America’s desensitization to it.

Dan Williams’ daughter Emily gets murdered in a school shooting. Four years later, Dan stands in a white void and recites a corporate monologue about gun violence on a PSA film set. But as Dan repeats his trauma over and over again, he notices the crew members filming him don’t care.

People have lost their empathy not because they lack empathy, but because they’ve become conditioned to seeing gun violence happen again and again and again. Ten doesn’t pretend to have the answers, but it holds a mirror to society and reminds people how tragic these deaths are.

Reece wrote the script and will direct the film with a team of talented friends and fellow artists who are itching to tell an important, heart-rending story.

LOOKING TOWARD A HOPEFUL FUTURE

BALANCING THE LIGHT AND THE DARK

Reece plans to keep telling stories, though not all this dark. His most recent feature screenplay, The Gods Of Mount Gairos, is a fantasy-adventure that steps away from America and enters the mythical world of Arydia. The characters must ascend a perilous mountain and face deadly trials in order to meet the Gods, who will grant them each one wish that may cast good fortune upon the world.

Lighter, hopeful stories help audiences envision a brighter future. Darker, tragic stories help audiences make sense of our world. As dark of a story as Ten is, the story does end on a hopeful note. Though you’ll have to watch the film to find out how.
